Deep Springs Technology, LLC (DST) was formed in 2007 as a spinout from Imaging Systems Technology (IST). DST was formed to develop structural applications for the hollow sphere technology that has been developed by Imaging Systems Technology. DST manufactures hollow shells made out of many materials, including aluminum, silicon carbide (SiC), stainless steel, glass, and maraging steel. These hollow shells have been incorporated into many diverse applications including composite armor plating, buoyancy applications, aerodynamic applications, and as proppants for oil and gas extraction. DST was selected by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in December 2010 to be a participant in the DARPA Vehicle Armor Challenge. This will allow DST to perform baseline ballistic testing of its silicon carbide shells in aluminum composite. DST is always interested in exploring new applications for our hollow shells.
